Does your research involve human subjects?

If so, please check with the appropriate institutional review board to see if your research requires IRB approval before you begin. (Link to the Social Sciences Institutional Review Board [SSIRB])

What is the difference between Class Related Instruction Assignments and Research Projects at UMKC that involve “Human subjects?”

Read the IRB Statement here.

To comply with the US Department of Health and Human Service's regulations for human experimentation surveillance, the University of Missouri-Kansas City has the responsibility for reviewing all proposed projects and campus activities involving human subjects. Protocols must be submitted to, and approved by, the appropriate Institutional Review Board before a study is undertaken.

Thesis & Dissertation Guidelines

Effective Fall 2010, all students will be required to submit the final copies of their theses or dissertations electronically in Portable Document Format (PDF) after the initial paper draft of the thesis has been approved by the School of Graduate Studies. SGS will continue to review a paper version of each thesis and dissertation for format, but the final submission to the library and UMI will be via electronic document. After submission of the PDF copy to ProQuest/UMI, full-text versions will be available through MOspace, the digital institutional repository of the University of Missouri System. Recent UMKC theses and dissertations may be seen here.
