Program Requirements

The program is comprised of at least 42 credit hours, including:

• At least 12 hours of coursework in the mathematics primary discipline
• At least 9 hours of coursework outside the primary discipline
• 6 hours of electives (or electives as needed to constitute 30 coursework hours) 
• 12 hours of dissertation research

Program Benchmarks

You will need to take a qualifying exam based on coursework and a comprehensive exam that consists of an oral presentation of your research proposal. The final examination is your thesis defense.
