Preparing Future Faculty Program

The Preparing Future Faculty program is an online graduate certificate program that prepares graduate students and graduates from around the world to become professors at diverse higher education institutions.

Benefits

In today’s competitive academic job market, higher education institutions desire faculty members who not only possess the appropriate academic credentials (e.g. a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in their field), but who can also demonstrate that they are prepared to be excellent teachers and well-rounded colleagues.

The Preparing Future Faculty Program at UMKC provides the structure for doctoral and master’s students to augment their qualifications and gain a competitive edge with a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and Career Preparation.

Online Means Flexible and Accommodating

No matter where you live or attend graduate school, you’ll engage with panelists and participants via online learning technology.

Nazgol Bagheri, Ph.D. ’13, Assistant Professor of Geography, Director, Critical GIS Research Lab, University of Texas at San Antonio

“As a doctoral student, you often do not learn the art of teaching, its pleasures and its challenges. The PFF program, through intensive coursework, will familiarize you with the necessary teaching skills. The program greatly assisted me in getting several job interviews and landing a tenure-track position in the competitive academic job market. Today, it helps me as a teacher and director of a lab – I keep going back to my PFF course materials and apply what I learned on a regular basis." — Nazgol Bagheri, Ph.D. ’13, Assistant Professor of Geography, Director, Critical GIS Research Lab, University of Texas at San Antonio
