About

Dr. Sarah Beach first joined UMKC in August 2017 and worked as a part-time classroom assistant with the School of Pharmacy’s (SOP) satellite campus at the University of Missouri in Columbia until May 2019. After some time away, she returned to UMKC in February 2020 to work in office and business support positions with the SOP in Kansas City—her hometown. In November 2024, Sarah began as a Program Manager in the School of Graduate Studies (SGS).

Dr. Beach’s professional background includes, but is not limited to, working in the following positions: assistant professor of sociology, postdoctoral fellow, adjunct in-person and online instructor, graduate research assistant, graduate teaching assistant, and grocery department manager and manager on duty in a large cooperative grocery store.

Sarah has earned the following degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Management, a Master of Arts in Sociology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology.

With the SGS, some of Dr. Beach’s current responsibilities include the following:

  • Thesis and dissertation formatting guidance resources, workshops, and individual meetings
  • Thesis and dissertation format reviews, certifications, and submission approvals
  • Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) Administrator for ProQuest
  • SGS liaison to UMKC’s MOspace team
  • SGS liaison for thesis and dissertation embargo requests and extensions
  • Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) institution contact
  • Committee of Graduate Officers administrative liaison
  • Graduate Council administrative liaison
  • Coordinate doctoral, graduate, and adjunct graduate faculty status appointment process and complete database and website updates
  • Process improvement
  • Assist with assessing and revising graduate academic regulations and policies
