Program requirements

This program is comprised of at least 46 credit hours, including:

  • At least 15-18 credit hours in the Chemistry primary discipline
  • At least 12 credit hours outside the primary discipline
  • Electives as needed to constitute 30 coursework hours
  • 1 credit hour of Chemistry seminar
  • At least 15 credit hours of dissertation research

Application Details

Application procedures and requirements

  1. Prepare required documentation, including:
    • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
    • Statement of purpose outlining your interests and career goals
    • Three letters of recommendation (academic and/or professional)
    • English language proficiency requirement
  2. Complete the online application. Please be sure to pay applicable domestic or international program fees.
  3. Make sure you meet other discipline-specific requirements, which are listed in the Academic Catalog.

Application deadlines

  • April 15  first consideration deadline for Fall Semester entry, with rolling deadlines after that as funding allows.
  • Oct. 15  first consideration deadline for Spring Semester entry, with rolling deadlines after that as funding allows.
  • International students should apply two terms before expected start of program.
