The Ph.D. in Natural Sciences: Mathematics program offers two coursework tracks: mathematics and statistics. In this program, students gain advanced expertise in areas of mathematics or statistics of current interest. Research skills are developed toward advancing theory and creatively applying knowledge to solve concrete problems, particularly those in data analysis, deep learning and health and life sciences. Through its curriculum and research exposure, the program prepares students for careers in both higher education and industry. You will need to take a qualifying exam based on coursework and a comprehensive exam that consists of an oral presentaiton of your research proposal. The final examination is your thesis defense.
