Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and Career Preparation can be local current graduate students, local students holding an undergraduate degree, or those who reside in states where UMKC is authorized to deliver online education to residents.
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis from January 31 until July 31 to start in the Fall semester.
Please apply online via the UMKC application, choosing the College Teaching and Career Preparation program within the “Academic Information” tab. All applicants must have two recommendation letters – one from the primary graduate advisor or the supervisory committee chairperson.
It is recommended that applicants talk to the Director of the Preparing Future Faculty program, Dr. Candace Schlein, about their areas of interest before applying to the program.
The School of Graduate Studies offers up to 6 PFF Scholar Awards of $2,500 each year to eligible UMKC doctoral or master’s students. The monetary stipend is accompanied by tuition remission for the required seminar courses for the program.
